THIS MONTH: Pennsylvania Families, Educators Find the Positive in Education by Celebrating School Choice Week | State

HARRISBURG, Pa., January 15, 2021 / PRNewswire / – In the middle of a school year like no other, Pennsylvania Families and educators are preparing to safely highlight educational opportunities during School Choice Week 2021.

Pennsylvania Families, schools, and organizations host 1,769 virtual or domestic celebrations during the week. One of these activities will be the launch of a series of video testimonials from Pennsylvania Families share how their lives have changed because of the opportunities offered by virtual education.

School Choice Week has been held annually since 2011 and is America's largest celebration of educational choice. While the week is usually filled with large in-person events, proponents of school choice have adapted to this year's health and safety protocols, opting for scavenger hunts, virtual briefing sessions and display cases, online contests, drive-in movie screenings, and more. Across the country, more than two dozen US landmarks and remarkable buildings light up in custom colors during the week.

A growing number of communities have issued proclamations in recognition of School Choice Week, including the Pennsylvania Counties of union and Snyder;; the cities of Bethel Park, Aliquippa, Hollidaysburg, East Prospect, Blooming Grove, Gettysburg, Pottsville, McKees Rocks, Delmont, Coleraine, Notch, unionand East Cocalico; and the townships of Vanport, Mead, East Cocalico, North Unionand South Woodbury.

"This National School Choice Week is a time to celebrate all parents, educators, and study programs who inspire children to be happy and dare to be great."

Pennsylvania Families in underperforming school areas or below a certain income level can take advantage of government scholarship programs.

Pennsylvania Families will draw attention to these decisions at their virtual celebrations, some of the more than 33,000 planned nationwide to highlight K-12 educational options.
