PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – There were a billion reasons to buy lottery tickets tonight! That's because the historic jackpot is $ 1 billion.
$ 1 billion is that much to be won in the Mega Millions jackpot. Eyewitness News found some people in Philadelphia feeling happy.
“Today I probably bought seven tickets. We've bought a lot in the past week, ”said Crystal McHugh.
Those who benefit from this hefty jackpot could get away with nearly $ 740 million in cash. What would someone do with all that money?
"Pay off debts and probably give money to family and probably give something in return," said MJ Jordan.
"I have children. So get Philly out," said Erika Womack.
“Take care of the family, maybe help people who are in need. If I won a lot of money, I would do it to help some people, ”said Tom Mundy.
This is only the third time a jackpot has reached this milestone.
However, residents hope it will be their happy night when the numbers are read.
If the Mega Millions jackpot is won tonight it would be the third largest lottery prize of all time.
Get your tickets out. Here are the winning numbers: 4, 26, 42, 50, 60 and the mega ball is 24.
