The Adams County Board of Commissioners today approved a further $1.08 million dollars in Fund for Adams Investment & Recovery (FAIR) grants to 34 county organizations.
The awards bring the total awarded to a total of $3.7 million.
The awards, from the Federal Coronavirus Relief and Economic Security Act (the “CARES Act”), are being awarded as COVID-19 County Relief Block Grant funds by the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED). The awards were recommended by the County’s Department of Community and Economic Development.
The county announced that 23 new proposals had been received in the third round of applications and that there are 50 proposals still under review.
Commissioner Randy Phiel said the deadline for applications in the third round ended last Friday and that the county does not anticipate further funding announcements. “The object was to help as many people in the county as we can,” said Phiel.
Office of Planning and Development Director Sherri Clayton said 51 percent of the money has gone to help small businesses, 20 percent to tourism, 15 percent to nonprofits and the rest for PPE and municipalities. “It’s really going where it’s needed in the community,” said Clayton.
