Clifford O. "Cliff" Whitmoyer, 76, of Aspers, died at Gettysburg Hospital on Friday, December 11, 2020.
He was born on November 23, 1944 in Danville, Pennsylvania, to the late Clifford E. and Helen M. (Stover) Whitmoyer. Cliff is survived by his wife, Barbara Ann (Hayes) Whitmoyer.
During the Vietnam War, he served in the United States Air Force from 1962 to 1966. After his military service, Cliff was a proud member of the Pennsylvania State Police from 1968 to 1995, where his soldier friends affectionately referred to him as "Whitey" and withdrew from the Gettysburg Barracks. After retiring from the State Police, Cliff worked for many years at the Adams County Courthouse, serving in various roles for the security, tipping, and sheriff's department.
He was a member of Benders Lutheran Church in Biglerville and the Brotherhood Order of Police Lodge No. 41. Cliff volunteered for many years as the Little League baseball coach in the Upper Adams Little League. He was the proud grandfather of seven grandchildren and enjoyed watching them grow and be a big part of their lives. He also enjoyed tending his vegetable garden.
In addition to his wife Barbara, three sons, Shawn David Whitmoyer and wife Mayra of Biglerville, Curtis A. Whitmoyer and wife Jill of Gettysburg, and Cory L. Whitmoyer of Grand Rapids, N.D .; survive; and seven grandchildren, Landon, Jacoby, Jeter, Kyle, Reid, Devin and Chelsea.
On Saturday, December 19, 2020, there will be a funeral service and burial at the grave at 11 a.m. in Biglerville Cemetery, attended by its pastor, Rev. Timothy Seitz-Brown. Pennsylvania State Police and military honors are provided by the State Police Ceremonial Unit and the Adams County Allied Veterans.
