Adams County’s 911 system could not take calls from cell phones and some landlines as of Wednesday evening, according to Adams County Emergency Services Director Warren Bladen.
The outage began around 3 p.m. on Wednesday and was due to an unknown problem with CenturyLink, he said. It was affecting a seven-county area, said Bladen.
York County dispatch was taking calls for Adams County at 717-854-5571.
It is not yet known when the problem will be fixed, Bladen said.
CenturyLink’s parent company was aware of the situation.
“Our technicians are working hard to resolve a 911 service disruption for some customers in the areas surrounding Adams, Bedford, Butler, Cumberland, Franklin, Juniata, Perry and York Counties in Pennsylvania. We will provide updates as soon as we can,” a Lumen spokesperson wrote in an email sent to the Gettysburg Times at 6:45 p.m.
